A Nigerian Muslim Man identified as Usman Solo has defended the controversial issue of child by saying that it’s part of the Islamic beliefs that one should marry a child.
Usman made this known in a reaction to Nigerian politician, Femi Fani-Kayode’s tweets, where he criticized the Sultan of Sokoto for not championing the fight against Child Marriage and paedophilia in the North.
FFK had criticized the Sultan of Sokoto for not channeling his fight for the Hijab story that has been on for a while now, towards that of curbing Child marriage in the north.
Reacting to this, Usman said:
“Child marriage is our religious belief” and it has got everyone wondering where it’s said in the Quran that it’s okay to be a pedophile.
Just so you know btw, the Quran states specifically in the 6th verse of its 4th Chapter,
“And test the orphans [in your charge] until they reach a marriageable age; then, if you find them to be mature of mind/sound in judgment, hand over to them their possessions…” (Quran, 4:6)
